Example no.7: Letter for KABWA

At Keep Australia Beautiful WA (KABWA), we strive for a litter-free Western Australia through community awareness and engagement, education, legislation and enforcement strategies. Our programs and initiatives aim to educate the community about litter issues and promote a cleaner and more sustainable Western Australia.

Our Litter Report Scheme allows community members to report littering from vehicles, which may result in a litter infringement being issued. Our research suggests that a large proportion of infringements are issued to people from non-English speaking backgrounds, which has prompted us to develop some simple posters to communicate the anti-litter message. The posters were developed in consultation with culturally and linguistically diverse groups. We hope the poster information will alert those who may not be aware of Western Australia’s litter laws, and the $200 infringement for littering.

We have included several copies of the poster with this letter and we would appreciate you displaying them in a prominent place on campus, in particular areas frequented by international students. Having your help and commitment will improve awareness of the litter laws, Keep Australia Beautiful WA and promote a cleaner and safer environment.

KABWA also has additional resources available that are aimed at encouraging people to keep Australia beautiful. These resources can easily be obtained from the KABWA website: www.kabc.wa.gov.au.

We welcome your call to discuss additional opportunities to develop a targeted anti-litter campaign or learn more about our programs and resources. Contact us at kabc@kabc.wa.gov.au or call (08) 6467 5122.
